Faculty at The Ohio State University can help create a more accessible learning experience for students by participating in Fix Your Content Day on Tuesday, Nov. 10.

The 24-hour global event, hosted by Blackboard Ally, challenges educators and institutions around the world to improve the accessibility of digital course content. Ohio State is already registered, so faculty do not need to register individually to participate.

Throughout the day, faculty are encouraged to use Ally in CarmenCanvas to identify and address accessibility opportunities in their courses. Ally’s red and orange accessibility indicators can help faculty prioritize materials that need attention. Improvements can include adding alternative text to images, strengthening document structure and fixing broken links.

Every improvement counts. Fixes made through Ally are recorded and contribute to Ohio State’s position on a live global leaderboard, creating an opportunity for Buckeyes to work together while making course materials more inclusive.

Faculty do not need to overhaul an entire course to participate. Set aside time Nov. 10 to review one course, address a few accessibility issues or tackle materials that students use most frequently. Even one improvement can contribute to a better experience for learners.

Make accessibility part of your course preparation and help Ohio State make an impact during Fix Your Content Day.
